Introduction
Hi there!
Are you non-religious?
Are you an atheist or agnostic?
Do you believe in separation of church and state?
If any of these statements apply, then you will probably be interested in Humanism.
Humanism is an approach to life based on humanity and reason. Humanists believe in living moral and ethical lives without the need to base this on any religious dogma. Humanists are atheists or agnostics and have no belief in the supernatural. We only have one life and it is our responsibility to make it a good one having regard for the individual rights and freedoms of others, social co-operation and mutual respect. For more on humanist attitudes see what do we believe?
The Golden Rule is to treat others as you would wish to be treated yourself.
Who are the Harrow Humanists?
We are a group of people, living mainly in and around Harrow, who share the humanist philosophy. We have monthly evening meetings (see Where and when do we meet) except for February and August when we have a social lunch and July when we have a day out. If you are interested in joining us, have a look at our Programme of Activities. Newcomers and visitors are always welcome at our meetings.
Our next meeting is on 9 May at 8.00 pm at HAVS lodge. This will be our Annual General Meeting (for members only) which will be followed by a general discussion incuding where we should go for our Summer Outing in July.
We also have regular informal coffee mornings in the upstairs cafe of BHS in St Ann’s shopping centre at 10.30am on Tuesdays.
For more information ring Julie (0208 907 6124) or Terry (0208 866 0425).
