Recent activities
We decided  to have two summer pub lunches at the Preston Pub, on 11 and 18 August so that a maximum number of members and friends could participate.

As our contribution to the celebration of Humanist week (21-27 June) we distributed humanist literature to all the Harrow libraries and ran a Harrow Humanist Society stall at the  Harrow Council Under One Sky community event on 27 June.  This was the hottest day of the year and England were playing Germany in the world cup football competition.  Nevertheless eight of us took turns to man the stall and fetch cups of tea and other refreshments and we had a steady trickle of interest during the early afternoon.  Later, as families gave way to teenagers and some fighting broke out we decided to pack up and we just hope our message was picked up by some people during the day.

On July 14 nine of us took a summer trip to Kew Gardens with most of us taking the boat from Westminster Pier.  Despite the poor weather forecast which put off our Chairman from coming, we only had a couple of heavy showers.  Some of us went on the treetop walkway (118 steps), some on the Kew Explorer bus and a good time was had by all. The boat trip back had added interest since there was a very high tide and the clearance for Hammersmith Bridge was 0.5 metre too little for the boat so we had to moor up until the tide turned and receded sufficiently.
